Rupert is an amazing puppy. He has a mellow, easy going, affectionate, empathetic temperament. I think he is a Newfoundland in a doodle coat. He is still a puppy! This means he chews on things, barks at things he is uncertain about, rough-houses with other dogs, and needs enrichment on a daily basis all throughout the day. On the spectrum of puppies, he is extremely easy, but I also make sure to meet as many of his needs as I can. It makes a difference.
His coat is a mixed coat. He has a little undercoat, but not much. His hair needs regular brushing and combing. To keep it at full length, it may require an hour a day of brushing and combing, at his pace, to keep tangles from becoming mats. He isn't all that enthused about being brushed and combed so we are taking it slow and making sure I use lots of treats and give him permission to opt out. He has more tangles than I would prefer, but it's okay. By taking it slow, he will learn to let me groom him without feeling traumatized and damaging our relationship of trust. His coat type has the option of being regularly shaved short, for people who don't have the time to manage that much hair daily.
He is a 3rd generation Newfoundland:Standard Poodle
