Most people get a dog and assume they will learn how to raise the dog as they go. Some do some research before they adopt. If you are among the few that are trying to prepare, I encourage you to put in as much time as you can learning how to interact with your dog. Think about the relationship you want, and do the research to see how to go about creating that relationship. This is more intuitive for some than for others. If you start out right, you will have a rewarding relationship for life.

www.baxterandbella.com is a website you can use to train your puppy from home. I haven't personally used it, but I have recommended it to a few, and they like it. It looks pretty good. They do use the "NO" correction. I don't use this correction, as it stops the dog's brain from constructive problem solving and creates a dynamic in the human-dog relationship that I'm not particularly interested in. But, many people will not realistically understand how to train without a negative correction like "no" or "Uh uh." I encourage you to learn how. But if you just can't figure it out, it's not your fault. You are a human, after all. And human's really like to use the word "no."

I am happy to recommend you to the trainers that I believe are sincere and adept in their trade. I will also be happy to advise you against those who are in it for the money and the ego. Please do not believe someone just because they say they can train dogs quickly and easily. Any promises for easy and reliable outcomes without positive reinforcers like treats and play will likely be abusive and psychologically damaging to you, your dog, and your relationship with your dog.
