I will debrief you and your family on what it means to get a puppy and what kind of realistic commitment it will take to get a Perfect Pup. I will help you make a list of tried and true things you will need at home and am happy to direct you to many online and local resources that have proven invaluable in raising a well adjusted puppy. Also, I will help you understand what realistic expectations to have.

I will go over basics of "socialization" and steer you away from over stimulating your dog or overexposing it to potentially dangerous and traumatizing environments. There are many ways to socialize your pup that result in a Perfect Pup that do not involve dog parks and free play at a dog daycare.

I will spend time with you showing what your puppy is capable of at different developmental stages and will also give you an idea of what you can expect based on the relationship you have built with your dog. I will give you the building blocks to help your puppy advance to whatever level of obedience you are both capable of together.

There is SO much involved here! But the majority of it involves your time. Every relationship that we value the most in life probably has required a significant amount of your time and investment. I will discuss with you what that looks like for a dog and what equates a positive interaction and what sets you and your doggie up for a Perfect Pup outcome.

There is a lot out there that your Veterinarian does not have time to discuss with you. I will discuss what has been useful for me and my dogs and the different resources out there for people interested in alternatives to the current norm in raising dogs. The quest for the longer lived dog is a real deal once you have put in the time to develop a relationship with your doggie companion. And it becomes even more important when that pup has become your Perfect Pup.

If you want to have a dog that lets you or your children cut it's nails, look in it's mouth, get groomed regularly, it will need some gentling. I teach you to use clicker training to help the puppy enjoy (or at least opt-in to)having someone cut it's nails and trim its hair, clean it's ears, or whatever it needs to experience as far as preparation for physical handling goes. I teach you to do it in a way that is not traumatic. This is something I do when I have a pup here on retreat as well.

For those who are interested in feeding home prepared meals or transitioning to raw feeding, I have many simple and practical pointers that I can help you implement with little or no preparation other than adding a few items when you are out shopping. If you want to go into further depth, we can discuss the nutrient needs of your raw-fed dog for the long-haul.
