Puppy Disclosure and Buyer Consent Form
As a puppy buyer, I am aware that:
Puppies chew, bark, scratch, dig, jump, pee, poop, vomit, slobber, cry, knock things over, and break things. They also do these things when they become dogs.
Puppies are sentient beings. They have emotional needs that are similar to humans. They experience the same emotions that humans do. They have the same neurotransmitters that humans do.
Dogs and puppies use a unique communication system that is specific to dogs. They will communicate clearly so long as they are allowed to without punishment. It is the responsibility of the buyer to study and learn these communication signals and learn the language of their own dog.
Puppies require 30 thirty or more hours of one-on-one attention with their humans per week, for their basic emotional, physical, and social needs.
Puppies and dogs require help of the buyer (their new family) to learn how to manage in their new home environments and in the world around them. It is the responsibility of the buyer to learn socially appropriate and ethical ways to provide opportunities for their puppy or dog to learn how to live a happy life in this modern world. It is the responsibility of the buyer to advocate for their dog in all circumstances.
I acknowledge that I (buyer) am accountable for any damages to the puppy or any human, property, or animal that the puppy engages with after the puppy physically leaves the breeder (Heidi Bruner)’s premises in Anchorage, Alaska.
I (buyer) am responsible for what I do with my puppy. I am responsible for the health outcome associated with my choices. Any potential defects in my puppy’s physical structure, genetics, or temperament have been discussed with me before purchase and/or receipt of my puppy and before it left the premises of the breeder (Heidi Bruner). Heidi has used best practices to raise this puppy with age-appropriate emotional, nutritional, social and physical elements and is not responsible for any health outcomes of my puppy. Heidi Bruner is not accountable for any negative structural, emotional, physical, or social, health outcomes for this puppy.
I (buyer) acknowledge that healthy genes are turned on based on the external environment. If I believe that my dog has inherited any undesirable genes, I am responsible for turning that gene expression on or off based on the environment I choose for my dog. This includes but is not limited to: diet I choose to feed my puppy, health care and veterinary interventions that I allow, emotional and physical stressors I place on the puppy, medication or vaccination I give to the puppy, chemical exposure in the environment in which I keep my puppy.
I (buyer) acknowledge that there are inherent consequences for my interactions with my puppy (or the lack thereof).
Below are listed a few of the potential outcomes that may occur if care is not taken with your puppy:
If I (buyer) am physically or emotionally abusive toward the puppy, I understand that it will affect the puppy personality development and will determine the ultimate outcome of the dog's behavior. I acknowledge that if I allow other people in my family or community to be abusive or aggressive toward the puppy, the result will be an emotionally and/or physically damaged dog.
I acknowledge that any undesirable behavior that I encourage or allow my dog to do repetitively as a puppy will increase the likelihood of the puppy repeating that behavior in the future as a dog. This includes jumping up on people, barking at the fenceline, pulling on the leash, etc.. It is my responsibility to find positive and effective training methods to help give the puppy alternate options for the bad behavior when they are young. If I wait until they are adults, the behavior is likely to become permanent.
I acknowledge that I am not allowed to enroll or engage my puppy in service dog or therapy dog training or any program designed to create service dogs until my dog is at least 2 years old.
I understand that if anyone is allowed to use a shock collar or a prong collar on my puppy/dog, I am responsible for the emotional and physical damages to the puppy and the socially estranged behavior that results.
I (buyer) will not use a shock collar or allow anyone to use a shock collar on my puppy/dog.
If I (buyer) vaccinate the puppy/dog, I acknowledge that I am responsible for the vaccine injury/reaction associated with vaccination. Side effects include but are not limited to autoimmune disease, cancer at the location of the injection, contraction of the disease, tendonosis, structural damage to joints including hip dysphasia and patellar syndrome, atopy, food allergies other chronic illness, and death. (In studies done on vaccinated dogs, all vaccinated dogs showed auto-antibodies. This is the precursor to diagnosable auto-immune disease)
If I (buyer) spay/neuter the puppy, I acknowledge that I am responsible for the consequences which may include but are not limited to early/premature death, cancer of various kinds, permanent problems with urination, inappropriate structural development including growth plates not closing properly and lack of proper muscle development, and massive anxiety/inability to cope with the world around them due to lack of hormone balance.
I (buyer) acknowledge that I am responsible for any damages caused by what I feed this puppy or what I allow it to consume. If I feed my dog a processed dog food diet and processed treats I understand that there are inherent damages associated with processed dog foods including lack of the proper microorganisms/biome of the dog, introduction of mycotoxins, rancid fats, denatured proteins, and other poisons that shouldn’t be consumed by a dog. I am responsible for the health outcomes associated with these toxins.
I (buyer) acknowledge that all medical interventions have their consequences and the breeder is not responsible for any damages to the puppy/dog. This includes, among other things, chemical damage to kidneys and liver caused by flea and tick medication, heart worm prevention medication, and vaccinations. This also includes surgical intervention including, but not limited to, dew claw removal and de-sexing. Any decisions affecting health outcomes made by your veterinarian will become the responsibility of your veterinarian.
I (buyer) acknowledge that it is my responsibility to keep me puppy’s environment safe from chemicals in the house and on the lawn. I understand that excessive use of chemical fragrance in the home is linked to causing premature cancer and other injury to organs. These fragrance molecules are found in dryer sheets, perfumes, cleaning supplies, detergents, new furniture and grout or paint. This is a small list of chemicals in our environment that accumulate in our dog’s bodies and cause illness. I acknowledge that I have been informed on this.
I (buyer) acknowledge that allowing my puppy to play on slippery floors, jumping onto and off of furniture, run up and down stairs, jump into and out of the car, play fetch/retrieve/run on ice, and run alongside a bike all contribute to structural damage as an adult. I will avoid these activities at all costs and make accommodations for my puppy to prevent injury to their soft bones and developing joints and to prevent paralysis and injury to the spine and joints that occurs regularly with these activities.
I (buyer) will choose age-appropriate physical activities for my puppy so that their bones and joints develop properly. By doing so I will avoid extensive vet bills and sorrow in having a permanently injured dog.
I (buyer) acknowledge that a newfoundland/poodle mixed breed dog may potentially have a very high maintenance grooming requirement and that I will need to comb my puppy/dog’s hair down to the skin to avoid injury to the dog’s skin by matted clumps of hair.
I will not wrestle with my puppy. I will not allow anyone to wrestle with my puppy. I (buyer) acknowledge that I am dysregulating my puppy when I allow anyone to wrestle with it, which may cause irreparable psychological disconnect.
I (buyer) acknowledge that I am responsible to learn more about protecting my puppy and providing the best life that I possibly can, given my life circumstances. If I feel that at any point I am unable to provide for the puppy physically, emotionally, or financially I am invited to contact the breeder (Heidi Bruner) for help to relocate my dog to a family that is capable of providing for their emotional and physical needs.
Even if I (buyer) do not read this disclaimer and consent form, and/or sign it without reading it, I acknowledge that any and all behavioral and physical/structural/emotional/health outcomes with my puppy/dog that I purchase through Heidi Bruner are fully the responsibility of the buyer.
